August 2012 Harvest

Olive buds.

3/30/12
JUST BUDS
Most of the trees branches are covered with frothy white flakes, each tiny bud signaling a future olive.

Green specks.

4/2/12
GREEN SPECKS
The ground beneath the trees are covered with a fine coating of gold dust, but in place of each discarded blossom is a tiny green speck.

Buckshot.

4/12/12
BUCKSHOT
The clusters of specks have fattened into baby olives straining  their pits toward maturity, but the trees seem to be self-regulating, as they aborted approximately 70% of their blossoms, allowing the blooms that have become olives a better chance for survival...Mother Nature knows what's best.
